Fridge Freezer Leaking Water

Leaking fridge freezers are an extremely common appliance fault.

This can cause a massive inconvenience to families as without a properly functioning fridge freezer, we are limited in what food we can store and serve up at dinner time!

What makes it worse, is that there are many reasons why a fridge freezer could be leaking, and most of us don’t know how to discover the cause.

In this article we’ll be looking at the most common causes of a leaking fridge freezer, how to fix it and how to prevent it happening in the future.

If your fridge freezer is leaking, and you can see water collating on the floor, open your fridge and remove the bottom shelf.

If you can see water, or feel that it is wet, then the most likely cause is a blocked drain hole.

You will find this hole at the bottom of the back wall. It expels condensation from the appliance and keeps the inside of the device dry.

However, this hole can occasionally get blocked up with bits of food, which prevents water from escaping. This leaves it no option but to trickle out of the appliance and collate at the bottom of your fridge freezer.

How do I fix a leaking fridge freezer?
This problem, while frustrating, is extremely easy to repair yourself and can be done in a number of ways:

Buy special tools online to clean the hole
Use a coat hanger or pipe cleaner to clear the hole
Push a straw into the hole and blow any residue out
Use a funnel to pour bicarbonate of soda and vinegar into the hole. This will also remove any unwanted odours
